USCG Pier Extension

The USCG extended the existing South pier an additional 150 feet long x 40 feet wide to accommodate the arrival of two new fast response vessels. In addition to the pier extension, the granite shore protection was modified to accommodate deeper water. 18” square x 98’ long vertical prestressed concrete piles and 18” square x 103’ long prestressed concrete batter piles were driven to support the cast-in-place pile caps and pre-cast deck slabs (5’ wide x 12” thick x 18’-9” long). The pier extension was finished with a topping slab and utility trench. 18 each 24” diameter x 60’ long steel fender piles were installed for the fendering system.
