Located next to the Galveston Ferry Landings, the reconstruction of TxDOT’s Work Docks consisted of full removal and replacement of four existing berthings and the addition of one new slip. The slips are divided by 20 each monopile measuring 60” in diameter x 140 LF long with TSA coating. The existing buried fuel tanks were removed, and replaced with two 25,000 gallon above ground tanks. All utilities, consisting of: electrical, compressed air, potable water, sanitary sewer, fuel oil, lube oil, lube and oily bilge were replaced and routed in a utility trench running to each individual berthing station. TG drove 458 LF of pipe/ sheets for a combination wall that divides property boundaries. The OWS (oil-water-separator) station had to be relocated in order to install tie rod system for the full span of new bulkhead. This project took over two years to complete with multiple crews working in unison by land and water.
